Daemon-based releases; check client version
Package applicability is under review; follow the stated version and platform limits.
Check the reported stage
smlicensed is the background licence broker. smlicctl is its control utility. The broker runs on the same machine as the client application; it is not a substitute for a remote shared daemon on another workstation.
A successful ping checks that the local broker responds. A product still needs its own valid signed grant. Another SUN Magnetics application working on that machine does not prove this product's entitlement.
Inspect the setup
- Record the application and daemon versions and the exact error code.
- Check that the client points to the intended readable licence file and the correct installed daemon executable.
- Use smlicctl status to inspect the running broker. Distinguish STARTING, READY and FAILED states; inspect the product-specific error rather than relying on ping alone.
- After correcting the reported cause, retry the application's licence check. InductEx® documents up to 60 seconds for the initial check.
Diagnostic commands
Run the installed utilities from a terminal. Their directory may need an explicit path.
smlicensed --version
smlicctl --version
smlicctl ping
smlicctl statusIf it still fails
Provide the exact diagnostic, versions and whether the issue follows startup, wake/resume or another application launch. Keep licence keys and session tokens out of the report.
