2.9.0 release target; source-documentation evidence
Package applicability is under review; follow the stated version and platform limits.
Before starting
Use the intended JoSIM®-Pro 2.9 package and its matching manual. The owner selected 2.9 for publication; this guide does not claim the final release is already available.
Install the supported SUN Magnetics License Manager and keep the issued JoSIM®-Pro licence file. A valid licence is required to simulate; degraded startup permits only limited inspection and recovery.
Keep a writable working directory for copied circuits, included models and new output files.
Select the package for the supported Linux distribution and architecture. The GUI requires the package's GTK/OpenGL runtime dependencies.
Install and launch
- Install the supported shared License Manager before the application and preserve other products' existing licence files.
- Use apt for a local DEB or dnf/yum for a local RPM so dependencies are resolved. Replace the placeholder filename in the commands below with exactly the intended downloaded package.
- Start the JoSIM®-Pro desktop entry or run josim-pro-gui. Use the wrapper so that it prepares the runtime library path.
- Check the licence state and version. The public commands are installed under /usr/local/bin: josim-pro-gui, josim-pro-cli and optimum-cli.
- Copy the complete example directory into a writable folder and follow the JTL first-simulation guide.
Command-line checks
Run these checks in a new terminal after installation. A version response confirms executable discovery, not a valid extraction or simulation licence.
# Debian-style package; replace the filename.
cp ./josim-pro-package.deb /tmp/josim-pro-package.deb
sudo apt install /tmp/josim-pro-package.deb
# OR, for an RPM-style package:
sudo dnf install ./josim-pro-package.rpm
josim-pro-cli -v
josim-pro-guiCheck the first run
The GUI opens and its licence check succeeds for the intended JoSIM®-Pro installation. The CLI reports the intended version.
Open a complete writable copy of JTL_Example.cir and follow the linked first-simulation guide. Accept only a completed current run with the expected traces and time coverage; retain its new data output.
A visible GUI, a version response or an importable API alone does not prove licensed simulation. This installation draft has not been executed end to end.
If the problem remains
If the wrapper reports JoSIM_Pro_GUI is missing or not executable, repair or reinstall the intended package. Do not bypass the wrapper to hide a package/runtime problem.
If GTK/OpenGL dependencies are missing, retain the package-manager diagnostic and install through the dependency-resolving manager rather than copying unrelated libraries.
For a licence failure use the actual diagnostic to check the configured licence filename and licensing-service availability, then select Retry. Continue degraded does not enable simulations.
If simulation cannot find an included file, restore the complete copied example and correct its reference. For AND_Example.cir, keep base_cells.cir alongside it.
Retain the package, executable/version, operating-system/architecture and exact error for support; exclude licence keys, System ID contents and private circuit data from public reports.
