# Preview and apply JoSIM quick fixes across source files

Review exact token replacements before applying them to unsaved buffers. Cancel, changed-source rejection and linked Undo/Redo preserve a deliberate editing boundary.

## Compatibility

2.9.0 release target; current Windows native diagnostics checks

Published guidance with release-applicability limits. Confirm package applicability before following this guide.

## Start with a current source check

Use the complete diagnostics example linked below. Open main.cir and keep cells.cir available. The two intended corrections are .TRNA to .TRAN in the root and .ENDS WRONG to .ENDS FILTER in the include. Wait for current editor diagnostics before requesting a fix. Static fixes correct supported authoring errors; they do not choose physical values or make an arbitrary circuit valid.

![Actual editor shows the complete small teaching root, an error marker at .TRNA, the included closing-name issue and its related opening declaration.](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/31de30_24aea77cc1fb41b685edc74e8382bba1~mv2.png)

The actual editor marks the unsupported directive and lists the included closing-name issue with its related opening declaration.

## Preview one exact correction

1. Follow the directive issue at main.cir line 6, then press Ctrl/Cmd+. or choose Quick fix... from the editor edit menu.
2. Read the affected file and line, Replace: .TRNA, and With: .TRAN. Cancel first: the original text should remain unchanged.
3. Request the preview again and choose Yes after reviewing it. Only the directive token changes; the root remains unsaved. Ordinary Undo restores the original token in one edit.
4. Use manual editing when no unique supported fix is offered. Ambiguous spelling, unfinished quotes, missing end-of-line delimiters, component/model names and circuit values are not guesses for this action.

## Review the complete available set

1. Return to the original two-error teaching state and wait for current root diagnostics. Choose Review available fixes across files... from the editor edit menu.
2. Review both rows: cells.cir line 5, WRONG -> FILTER; main.cir line 6, .TRNA -> .TRAN. The list covers available unambiguous fixes in this root graph, not every diagnostic in the folder.
3. Cancel to preserve both buffers, or choose Yes to apply the complete set to editor buffers together. The include opens as a buffer if needed. No source file is saved automatically.
4. If a source changes while the preview is open, return to diagnostics and review again. The checked concurrent include edit caused the whole proposed set to be refused; the new local comment was preserved and neither token was fixed. Do not keep accepting an obsolete preview.

## Keep local edits, linked history and disk separate

1. After the accepted multi-file edit, use ordinary Undo from either participating buffer to undo the linked set. If you added a later local edit, undo that edit first. The teaching check removes a later comment first, then undoes both token corrections from cells.cir.
2. Use Redo from the root at the matching history boundary to restore both corrections. Keep all participants open, writable, unchanged on disk, and at the corresponding linked history point.
3. Closing/reopening, renaming, reloading or branching one participant’s history can prevent the grouped action. Follow the reported conflict and preserve the text; do not force a partial group operation.
4. Save every changed file explicitly; Save All handles both teaching participants. Refresh Workspace Problems to require a complete clean static result. Use the separate saved-input check and then Run for their own purposes.

## Limits of the checked transaction

The native sequence checks single and multi-file cancellation/acceptance, exact replacement text, concurrent-source rejection, later local Undo, linked Undo/Redo and explicit Save All. Groups live only in the current workspace session and are not retained by recovery copies.

The maintained design also guards source bytes, revisions, writability, ranges, overlapping edits and a maximum of 256 edits with 2 MiB per source. This small example does not exercise every read-only/locked-file or commit-rollback branch. Physical operator paths, final packages and numerical accuracy remain separate.

## Sources and verification details

Recorded inputs/builds only. Complete walkthrough and final-package acceptance remain separate.

- VAL-060: Frozen maintained Windows JoSIM-Pro 2.9 candidate. Two normal Windows JoSIM 2.9 candidate processes exercise current workspace diagnostics, root/include/related navigation, filters and stale/incomplete recovery, exact single/linked fixes, changed-preview rejection, local/linked Undo/Redo and explicit Save All. Licensed saved setup and numerical Run remain separate. Actual downloaded inputs repeat all 36 checks and reproduce saved corrections and two current arrays; the download review passes twelve comparisons. Physical pointer/picker interaction, exhaustive grammar/conflicts/cancellation, automatic session restoration, other platforms, final packages and arbitrary-device numerical accuracy remain unqualified.

- josim-diagnostics-editor: Current-source Windows JoSIM 2.9 native diagnostics teaching scenario, reviewed 4 November 2026. The pictured source/diagnostic state is authentic within the checked teaching scenario; it does not establish numerical accuracy or final-package acceptance.

- josim-pro:docs/manual_source/sections/gui_diagnostics.tex: Live diagnostics, workspace states, reviewed fixes, saved-circuit check and tasks
- validation:diagnostics-workflow-20261104: VAL-060 native diagnostics and recovery; VAL-061 explicit static API client

- Scoped native evidence and current source/manual claims are explicit. Physical operator paths, complete feature/conflict coverage, platform/final-package checks and numerical accuracy remain separate.
