# Understand the parallel-plate capacitance example

This parameterised example uses inline IXI geometry and EQS mode to calculate capacitance between two labelled conductors. It does not require a circuit netlist.

## Compatibility

8 beta/preview

Published guidance with release-applicability limits. Confirm package applicability before following this guide.

**KB-EQS-001 · hold**: Parallel-plate numerical reference values and convergence-summary statistics remain withheld. Setup guidance is available; no accepted numerical success criterion is presented until reporting and convergence are reviewed.

**KB-GUI-004 · hold**: The inconsistent inline-layout readiness display is not accepted as a clean setup or successful calculation. The misleading illustration remains withheld.

## Keep the example files together

Copy the complete examples/capacitance/parallel_plates directory to a writable location. The supplied parallelplates.ixi refers to process.ldf. Use that actual project reference when checking the inputs.

## Inspect the model in Studio

1. Open parallelplates.ixi in Studio and check that the extraction mode is EQS.
2. Review the conductor summary under Electrical setup. The inline geometry labels the two conductors C1 M0 and C2 M1.
3. Inspect the supplied process definition and parameter d before changing geometry. The example describes plate spacing through the process definition.
4. For a calculation, resolve Check and run issues, save the project and run the extraction using a valid licence.

This example defines geometry in the IXI, uses process.ldf and does not need an external GDS file or circuit netlist.

## Command-line alternative

From the copied example directory, the supplied instructions use:

```text
inductex parallelplates.ixi
```

## Output review pending

The CLI setup was exercised. Numerical reference results are withheld while output-reporting issue KB-EQS-001 remains open.

Keep this project separate from the website's different capacitor bundle. Resolve the reporting issue and review the applicable convergence evidence before presenting a numerical success criterion.

## Sources and verification details

Recorded inputs/builds only. Complete walkthrough and final-package acceptance remain separate.
