# A legacy InductEx® 7 licence is not found after moving or upgrading Windows

First establish whether the licence is valid for the current host. Historical path lookup and installation settings differ from InductEx® 8.

## Compatibility

7.0.52 historical only

Published guidance with release-applicability limits. Confirm package applicability before following this guide.

## Check the release before applying old advice

A historical 7.0.52 case worked when an explicit -L licence-file path was supplied. This did not establish why the default lookup failed.

Another moved installation lacked installer-created environment settings. Running the supported installer and checking the actual execution account were relevant checks. The same licence still needed to match the machine.

## Use this as a diagnostic

1. Record the exact legacy version and its matching command-line help.
2. If that version documents -L, test the absolute licence-file path with the normal intended account. Quote paths containing spaces as required by your shell.
3. If the machine or identity changed, generate the version-appropriate identifier and contact support about reissue rather than editing the key.
4. For InductEx® 8, use the current daemon and licence-path instructions linked below.
