# Install and launch InductEx® on macOS

Install the daemon and the matching macOS package, open the installed Studio application and copy the complete example before generating results.

## Compatibility

8 beta/preview; source-documentation evidence

Published guidance with release-applicability limits. Confirm package applicability before following this guide.

## Before starting

Obtain the InductEx® 8 package for the intended operating system and architecture through the authorised download channel. Check its release notes and supplied checksum before installation.

Install the supported SUN Magnetics Universal Licence Daemon, version 1.5.2 or newer according to the maintained manual. InductEx® packages do not install or upgrade the shared daemon.

Keep the issued InductEx® licence file and a writable directory for example inputs and outputs. A licence for another SUN Magnetics product alone does not authorise InductEx®.

Confirm whether the supplied package targets Apple Silicon or Intel and whether it includes the solver required by the intended calculation. A Core/Studio-only candidate does not establish a complete solver installation.

## Install and launch

1. Install the shared daemon package for your Mac and preserve licences used by other SUN Magnetics applications.
2. Open the reviewed macOS .pkg, extracting it first if it was distributed in an archive, and follow its installer instructions. Check the actual release's signing/notarisation information.
3. Open the installed Studio application. The maintained package layout places InductExStudio.app below /Applications/SUN Magnetics/InductEx®; use the installed launcher to prepare the intended runtime.
4. Review the licence state in Studio. Use General preferences for a custom licence or daemon filename and Retry Licence Check after correcting the reported problem.
5. Copy the microstrip example through Help > Examples / Templates > Copy to Folder, or copy its entire installed directory. Open and run the working copy using the linked starting guide.

## Command-line checks

Run these checks in a new terminal after installation. A version response confirms executable discovery, not a valid extraction or simulation licence.

```text
inductex --version
inductex --build-info
```

## Check the first run

The installed Studio starts and reports a valid InductEx® licence. The CLI version/build identity matches the intended package.

Follow the linked microstrip starting guide on a complete writable copy: inspect process/layout/netlist references, check and run, then read the current completion state and fresh solution artifact with units.

Installation success and a completed example do not establish mesh convergence, general physical accuracy or qualification of another operating system.

## If the problem remains

If the command is missing, inspect the installed /usr/local/bin entry and the actual application bin directory. Do not assume the shell search path and Finder launcher identify the same package.

If macOS rejects the package or an architecture/solver dependency is missing, record the exact message and package identity for support. Do not disable operating-system security controls or describe emulation as native qualification.

For a licence or daemon error, inspect the reported detail, configured licence filename and daemon location. Use Tools > Preferences > General, then Help > About > Retry Licence Check after correcting the setup.

For a missing process, layout or netlist file, restore the complete example directory and check IXI-relative paths. Keep output files in a writable working directory.

## Sources and verification details

Recorded inputs/builds only. Complete walkthrough and final-package acceptance remain separate.

- inductex:deploy/workflow.py: macOS application bundle staging and expanded-package checks

- The application-bundle location is derived from maintained packaging source and still requires confirmation against the final distributed package.
- No macOS installation, native architecture, signing/notarisation acceptance, restart or first-run walkthrough passed for this draft.
- Deployment-reference applicability rechecked on 4 November 2026; packaging/document registration changes do not constitute an installation or lifecycle walkthrough.
