# Results still says Completed after I edit an IXI file

The checked Studio candidate can retain the earlier Completed result after a saved source edit. Save the intended inputs, use Run again and check the new verdict and values.

## Compatibility

8 beta/preview

Published guidance with release-applicability limits. Confirm package applicability before following this guide.

**KB-GUI-006 · verified workaround**: Save work and close other saved tabs before exit when the intended Studio project must return as active. The checked single-tab restart does not repair multi-tab selection.

**KB-GUI-008 · verified workaround**: After a source edit, save the intended inputs, choose Run again and verify the new result. An earlier Completed label may still refer to the previous generation.

## Recognise the retained result

This is a reproduced observation on a frozen Windows Studio source candidate, not a claim about every released package. After a completed 100 µm strip run, changing strip_length to 120 in Raw IXI, using Undo/Redo and saving left the earlier Results status reading Completed.

That label alone does not prove that the current source has been calculated. KB-GUI-008 tracks how the last-run result and edited source should be distinguished. The full GUI article and final-package behavior remain unqualified.

![Actual saved Raw IXI source shows strip_length set to 120, alongside the same process and netlist references.](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/31de30_839b06f6a4ad4d6fb6d31e69702a9d3f~mv2.png)

Actual saved source contains strip_length = 120 before the next extraction.

![The actual Results status row still reads Completed after saving a changed strip length, before Run again; this is the retained earlier result.](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/31de30_792b0c630228465da0258e86398df8e6~mv2.png)

At that point the actual Results status row still read Completed for the retained earlier calculation. This is an open provenance observation, not a passed stale-state check.

## Steps

1. Save all intended inputs. Confirm the active IXI and its process, circuit and variable values; keep a record of the input revision with the result.
2. Use Check and run / Run full extraction. After a previous completion Basic labels the production action Run again rather than Run extraction.
3. Wait for the new task verdict. Open Results > Raw output and check the quantities and units for that run, along with any errors or warnings.
4. If the run fails or is cancelled, correct the cause or finish the intended edits and run again. Do not accept an old file, the earlier Completed label or an isolated numeric row as a new successful result.

## Check the result

For the complete teaching example, the original 100 µm strip gives 3.89648e-12 H at GUI printed precision. Run again after saving 120 µm gives 4.67906e-12 H, matching the independently checked CLI at the same printed precision. Reverting the original input values and rerunning recovers the baseline.

The 3.9 pH design target was deliberately left unchanged during this length demonstration. Its resulting design deviation does not measure solver accuracy. Review the design target and mesh convergence separately for the actual problem.

![After saving length 120 and using Run again, current native raw output gives L1 as 4.67906e-12 H. The unchanged design target is still 3.9e-12 H.](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/31de30_5ee3a15457e2482c899332ac87b58918~mv2.png)

The new native run uses the saved 120 µm input and produces the larger L1. This is the result to compare with that edited input.

## Cancellation and restart

The recorded Stop action reached Cancelled while its raw output still contained an L1 row. The verdict remains Cancelled; that receipt is not accepted as a completed solve. Normal retry completed successfully.

A separate process restored the corrected saved source with the single-tab workaround, but Results was initially empty. Retained solver files did not establish a new completion. Deliberately rerunning produced the baseline. KB-GUI-006 remains separate from this after-edit finding.

## If the problem remains

Read the specific current error, verify saved paths and input revision, and use the linked missing-input, licensing or port guide as appropriate. If reporting the provenance issue, include the exact application/source version, actions and a minimal public reproducer; review any logs for private design or licence information before sharing.

- Initial capture-size and changed-button-caption helper assumptions were corrected and retained separately. They are not evidence that the product lacked a Run action.
